Schools Advocating for Fair Funding

Success Stories

SAFF helped secure millions of state funding, known as equalization, to reduce the cost of voter-approved school levies in primarily residential school districts and provide property tax relief for local taxpayers. All communities value their local schools and must have access to affordable levy revenue so their students can have the same educational opportunities seen in high-wealth school districts.

Through a laser focus on affordable local property tax revenue, SAFF joined efforts to ensure a stable funding source for school districts to maintain their buildings. Without a dedicated, equalized funding stream to help all districts maintain their facilities, districts were often forced to forego the implementation of instructional improvements at the expense of vital building maintenance. Schools should not have to take money out of the classroom to pay for building maintenance.
